Federal Government to Terminate the Contract Of N-Power first batch Beneficiaries

Federal Government said that N-Power Beneficiaries would be terminated before the end of the year 2020.

The Minister of humanitarian affairs disaster management and social development Sadiqa Farouq, during an interview with the press.

The Minister said that the first batch of the programme was supposed to have been terminated in 2018. She went further to say that she and her ministry is working on" and exit strategy" to that effect.

" N-Power beneficiaries enrolled in 2016 are yet to be exited, 16 months after the elapse of their contract, they are supposed to have graduated to a more productive venture. The ministry is currently making efforts to develop an exit strategy, which is non-existent existent, she said.

She said, there should be no cause for alarm as government would pay the monthly stipends to beneficiaries of NSIPs in the month of October and November.
She explained that delay was as a result of the handing over process from the office of the vice president in October 2019, and the "technicalities" of the scheme which she needed to understand.

She also noted that the wise among the beneficiaries must have saved from their monthly stipends to cater for the future.
She said"I don't know why there is fear, we know that the government has this programme in place to support our teeming unemployed youth, especially the graduated and it is supposed to be a two year programme.

Also, they must have learned some skills, so I don't think we should have this panic that these people don't know their fate, they don't know their future. From onset they should know that the programme would not last forever.

The Minister gave a concrete detail that they are looking at planned exit. That they're not going to exit them without having anything to fall back on. So we have options and we are exploring these options with critical stakeholders to see how we can have a futuristic exit.

Meanwhile, legit.com has it that no fewer than thirty beneficiaries of the N-Power programme were sacked by the federal government in Adamawa state.
