Former NNPC GMD, Baru, is Dead

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) regrets to announce the demise of its  immediate past Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, Friday night.

Dr. Baru was the 18th Group Managing Director of the nnpc
a consummate Mechanical Engineer, who steered the affairs of the Corporation from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019 .

A statement by the NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Dr. Kennie Obateru announced the passing on of dr maikanti Baru after a brief illness in a hospital in Abuja

The release says NNPC Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari expressed shock over the sudden death of dr maikanti baru ,describing him as a man ‘of exemplary character and disposition.’
Dr. Baru, was 60, years  Old.

CHIEF OF STAFF TO PRESIDENT, ABBA KYARI, PASSES ON

The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.

May God accept his soul.

CORONAVIRUS: FRSC CAUTIONS AGAINST OVERLOADING OF PASSENGERS BY DRIVERS AND RIDERS

As part of efforts to sustain the ongoing advocacy campaigns to curtail the spread of coronavirus through overloading of vehicles with passengers, the Federal Road Safety Corps has admonished all drivers of vehicles to carry only one person at the front and not more than three in a row  of the vehicles. While motorcycle riders should carry only one person at a time so that occupants will be able to guard themselves and watch out for symptoms as they commute to their destinations.

In a statement by the corps’ public education officer, Bisi Kazeem, It says the Corps Marshal advised that travellers should also endeavour to stay away from overloaded vehicles at all times no matter the urgency of their trips.

The spokesperson advised all motorists to adopt the safety tips that the Federal Ministry of Health has given and further stated that with the right attitude, the world will overcome this deadly pandemic in no distant time.

Oshiomhole On Fuel Price Reduction..

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a reduction in the pump price of petrol from N145 to N125 per litre.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the APC National Chairman, described the president's decision as a product of a progressive mind driving the machinery of a responsible and compassionate government.

Similarly the All Progressives Congress says the new price of petrol to N125/litre from the previous N145/litre,is a demonstration of unalloyed commitment to the welfare and well being of Nigerians by the present administration.

The party in a statement by Lanre Issa Onilu it's National Publicity Secretary  says the action is pro-people.

The party hope that this noble gesture, would reflect positively in the lives of all Nigerians.

NORTHERN GOVERNORS FORUM CONGRATULATES VICE PRESIDENT OSINBAJO AT 63

The Northern Governors Forum has sent warm felicitations to the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as he marks his 63rd birthday (8th March 2020).

The Forum in a message through its Chairman and Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a unique gift to Nigeria as he has been tenacious and patriotic in his service to the country and the upliftment of it's people.

Lalong said "as Chairman of the National Economic Council, Prof. Osinbajo has shown his deep knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing the Nigerian economy as well as deployed his versatility, team spirit and mobilization skills in advancing practical solutions to its improvement".

He added that" the vice President has shown total loyalty not only to President Muhammadu Buhari, but to the nation by giving reliable counsel and carrying out his assignments with excellence".

The Chairman also highlighted the Vice President's deep passion for the liberation of the poor through strategic empowerment programmes that have created jobs for many Nigerians and increased the quantity, quality and capacity of Micro-Medium and Small Scale Enterprises.

Lalong also said that the Northern Governors Forum in particular has enjoyed cordial working relationship with the Vice President as he has supported efforts at reducing poverty, tackling the challenges of Almajiri System, improving agricultural development, tackling insecurity as well as ending the farmer herder clashes.

While praying for God to continue to grant the Vice President many more years of peace, good health and prosperity, Governor Lalong asked him to continue to offer his wisdom and knowledge to the growth of Nigeria's democracy and the enhancement of Nigeria's ruling party, the APC.
